We were late as usual again this morning, and the magician at the exit where we turn off was missing. But there was a substitute act—a mime. A lot of people have a thing against mimes but I don’t understand why. They’re really kind of rare. I mean, when was the last time you saw one? Their makeup is a little creepy I guess, but they seem more defenseless and vulnerable than clowns, so I don’t think you should pick on them. This one was pretending to brush its teeth.

Today the person at corner that we drive by was doing a cabinet escape trick. There was a old rickety cabinet -- like it had been left at the side of the road -- with a bunch of chains around it and a big padlock, and it was kind of rocking and thumping because you could tell he was trying to get out of it.

But then the light changed and we had to go. We were late.

My mom takes me to school in the morning, and there's usually a homeless guy standing at the the stop sign near the offramp. But today it was a magician, with a cape and a top hat and everything. He was juggling balls.
