Why should we depend so much on our powers?
I think we should focus more on a different power:
The power of our music!

Who cares what the instruments are like? As long as they work, they should be fine!

Besides all that sounds completely against the classic rock and upbeat genre I was going for...

(Remember: it's the wizard, not the wand..... Although I did have a distant relative who was a wizard and died in a wand accident. But that's beside the point!)

I agree with both...how about an even combo of both? Like a tree bark guitar with vines for strings, with magic picks? Enchanted drumsticks,etc.etc. I asked Mrs.Robin and she agreed. I also asked the Janitor and i got the keys to the attic, whenever we have time to go there...i'm gonna head to the library now actually to see if they have any guitar books.

All true, I'll admit, but I think it's cool to have a story behind things. Gorillaz doesn't just have a music video, they've got a story about how their evil dwarf manager was on a floating island. Kavinsky, The Protomen, The Draculas. All with a story to tell.

You want classic rock? Bohemian Rhapsody. One of the greatest rock tales of all time. Styx and Mr. Roboto. Rush and 2112. Jethro Tull and Thick as a Brick.

The power of music is a great force, true, but when you combine it with the power of storytelling? That's magic.

Take your Fenders and Pearls, I begrudge you nothing, but I'm searching for the drum machine of gods.

People of great power have a responsibility to use it, and I'll chase down the best instruments of all time to make the best music of all time. Who's with me?

(Side note, everything mentioned merits a listen, or at least a casual glance on Spotify.)

@Crystal Rosethorn, that's what I'm talking about! Plant guitar! There we go!

I guess

I still don't see how just obtaining a magical item (quest or not) gives us a story, though.

It just seems like it defies the message I was going for....

But a combination of both might work...,

We could find some even grounds to tread on to accomplish it!

Maybe we should decide on a song first? Would you like an original by us, or would it be cooler to do a cover?

Well, if we want to start off with a boom, I see no better route than Highway to Hell by ACDC. For something a little more mellow, Where is My Mind by Pixies. Middle of the road is Flagpole Sitta by Harvey Danger.
